about the artist

Oh hey, you made it to my little slice of the internet—welcome! I’m Anna Kay Amman, the “A.K.A.” behind akadrewthat. Yes, I did draw that. Yes, I’m proud of the pun.

I’m a (mostly) self-taught graphic designer, lettering addict, and muralist based in mid-Michigan—but I’ve got paintbrushes and I will travel. My style pulls from retro print design, moody color palettes, and hand-painted signs like the ones that make you pull over to take a photo kind. I’m fueled by 90s nostalgia (probably rewatching Boy Meets World), elder emo playlists on Spotify, and coffee I’ve reheated three times.

Since 2017, I’ve been chasing the creative life while working a full-time day job — because keeping that artistic part of me alive has always been non-negotiable. I’ve sold greeting cards, art prints, hit the craft show circuit, and practiced my letters every single day. Not out of obligation, but because I truly need it. Art and drawing ground me, challenge me, and remind me who I am — it’s not just what I do, it’s how I stay connected to the world and myself.

I’m passionate about making art accessible. I believe it shouldn’t just live in museums or galleries. It should be on your walls, your garage doors, in your neighborhoods, in your hands—something that makes you smile, think, or just feel a little more you.

Thanks for being here. If you need a wall painted, a vibe captured, or a wildly specific illustration that only makes sense to you and your best friend—I’m your girl. Let’s make it weird. Let’s make it beautiful.

"Art and love are the same thing: it’s a process of seeing yourself in things that are not you."
—Chuck Klosterman
